Why do we set an expiry date to redeem a report that I've purchased?

For the most part, reports are purchased and used as part of the vehicle purchase process. This is typically 30 to 90 days, so most people do not run into any issues.

To avoid fraudulent activity by third parties such as reselling, misrepresentation and overcharging of our reports, we include an expiry on report purchases.

Why is my History-Based Value not showing?

History-Based Value relies on information within the Vehicle History Report (VHR) to provide an accurate, VIN-specific value. Once you have bought a VHR, you must have a complete VHR for the History-Based Value option to appear.

There are some rare instances when History-Based Value is not able to provide a valuation for a vehicle. You can learn more about that here.

Most CARFAX Canada reports are ready to view within minutes. In some cases, you might see “Almost done…” or “Pending” appear on the report – meaning one or more of our data sources may not have sent the data for your vehicle yet. Your report will complete and automatically update once we have received a response from each of our data sources. At this point you can redeem your History-Based Value.

In these situations, although we can't decode the VIN and show vehicle details on our reports, we will still provide you with all the vehicle history information that has been reported to us for that VIN.
